Ambassador of Thailand calls on President of the City Council of Stockholm

On 27 June 2018, H.E. Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden paid a courtesy call on Ms. Eva-Louise Erlandsson Slorach, President of the City Council of Stockholm upon the assumption of his duty.

On this occasion, H.E. the Ambassador and the President of the City Council exchanged views on the close and cordial ties between Thailand and Sweden which marks the 150th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year. From the historical Royal Visit to Sweden in 1897 by King Chulalongkorn to the increasing people-to-people contact has led to further closer ties. Currently, there are over 80,000 Thais residing in Sweden and each year, more than 300,000 Swedish tourists choose Thailand as their destination. H.E. the Ambassador also informed about the Embassy’s plan of activities to promote Thai popularity and enhance cooperation between the two countries in which the City of Stockholm has expressed its readiness to cooperate, especially in the area of sustainable urban development which Sweden has the best practice.
