Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden Presided over the Opening Ceremony of Songkran Festival organized by Salathai Cultural Association

On 28 April 2019, H.E. Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, and his wife together with officials from the Royal Thai Embassy and Tourism Authority of Thailand (Stockholm Office) attended the Songkran Festival, organized by the Salathai Cultural Association (Thailändska Kulturföreningen Salathai) at Östasiatiska Museet, Stockholm.

In his opening remarks, H.E. the Ambassador wished the Thai Community in Sweden a Happy Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year’s Day and praised the Salathai Cultural Association for promoting and conserving Thai culture and traditions in Sweden. On this occasion, H.E. the Ambassador also handed donation to support the Association in carrying out its activities. The Festival included various activities such as Thai cultural and musical performances, a ceremony to pour water over hands of the revered elders and ask for blessing, demonstration on fruit and vegetable carving which have attracted great attention from all participants.
