The Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm together with Team Thailand in Sweden organized the Thai Festival or Thailand@Kungsträdgården 2019 showcasing Thailand’s tourism, culinary art and culture as well as Muay Thai to the local community and tourists on 12-13 July 2019 at Kungsträdgården. The event was also supported by Thai restaurants and community in Sweden.
This year’s activities included booths promoting authentic Thai cuisine and beverages, fruits, and quality Thai products and local handicrafts. The Festival also featured a variety of stage performances from cultural performances to live music by members of the Thai Community in Sweden. Thai boxing workshop and other exciting activities were organized for the families. The Kungsträdgården was adorned with many people dressed in Thai traditional costumes. Another highlight this year included “Open the New Shade” to Northeastern Thailand (Isaan) with spectacular performances and handicraft demonstration from Udonthani province. Lucky draws to win fabulous trip to Thailand with tickets and accommodations sponsored by Thai Airways International and Tourism Authority of Thailand respectively always draw great attention from public.
The Thai Festival is a much awaited annual event for most Swedish and all Thais in Sweden. It has played an important role in promoting Thainess to the Swedish and bringing the Thai and Swedish community closer together. This year’s Festival was held with a great success, with approximately 95,000 people attended including both Swedish and Thais living in Sweden as well as visiting tourists from across the globe.
