H.E. Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum, Ambassador of the Royal Thai Embassy met with Thai community in Örnsköldsvik and preside over the celebration ceremony of “Phra Sivali“ at Bispgården on 1-2 June 2019

On 1 June 2019, H.E. Mr. Soonthorn Chaiyindeepum, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden, and officials from the Royal Thai Embassy met with Thai community in Örnsköldsviks and representatives from Örnsköldsviks Thai Förening. The delegation learned about an overview of Örnsköldsviks city as well as the history and past activities of the Förening. Furthermore, Ambassador and his officials also had opportunities to listen and reflects with the residents about their living experiences in Sweden, and updated them on relevant consular rules and regulations of Thailand.    

     On 2 June 2019, Ambassador Chaiyindeephum then traveled to Bispgården to preside over the celebration ceremony of “Phra Sivali“, followed by making merit activity at Wat Piyadhammaram (Piyadhammaram Temple). Not only 100 Thais, but also representatives from Ragunda Kommun, led by Mr. Mikael Westin, Mayor of Ragunda Municipality, attended the morning programme. This reflects close relationship between Wat Piyadhammaram and local authorities. In addition, Ambassador Chaiyindeephum had an opportunity to discuss with the representatives from Swedish side on management and maintenance of the Chulalongkorn Memorial Pavilion (Sala Thai) in Ragunda. This is a gift from the Royal Thai government to Sweden in memory of the King Chulalongkorn’s visit to the site in 1897 or 122 years ago.
