Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys welcomed Dr. David Ganz, Executive Director of the Regional Community Forestry Training Center for Asia and the Pacific (RECOFTC), at the Royal Thai Embassy

On 20 February 2026, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys welcomed Dr. David Ganz, Executive Director of the Regional Community Forestry Training Center for Asia and the Pacific (RECOFTC), at the Royal Thai Embassy. Mr. Natouch Thammanuruk, Counsellor, also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Ambassador and Dr. Ganz exchanged views on cooperation in community forestry to address climate change and poverty in the Asia-Pacific region. Both sides also discussed ways to adapt to Sweden’s changing direction in reducing allocations for development assistance, noting that one possible approach would be to build partnerships with the private sector and foundations to help replace previous funding sources. In addition, the two sides discussed the possibility of supporting the expansion of the “Trees4All” reforestation fundraising project in Nan Province to Phrae Province in order to promote the development of sustainable wood city. They also explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation between RECOFTC and agencies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, including the ASEAN Department and Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA).
