On August 30, 2024, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys hosted a Thai Evening in collaboration with the International Philanthropic Society (IPS) of Sweden. The event aimed to raise funds for the World Childhood Foundation, established by Queen Silvia of Sweden, to support and protect children worldwide from violence, exploitation, and HIV. Forty Five IPS members attended, including Kanthi Beck, the association’s president, and Joel Borgström, and Ellika Mårtensson, representatives of the World Childhood Foundation. The event featured a Thai dinner and traditional Thai dances to promote Thai culture and arts.
In the expression of her gratitude for the generosity of the attendees, the Ambassador highlighted that the importance of the Child Protection Summit on 16 May 2024 in Bangkok, jointly organized by the World Childhood Foundation and the SafeguardKids Foundation, and that the presence of Her Majesty the Queen of Thailand and Her Majesty the Queen of Sweden that gave substance and meaning to the work in continuously protecting, promoting, and upholding the rights of the child.
