Mr. Jehabdulloh Jehsorhoh
Pattani, South of Thailand
Jehabdulloh Jehsorhoh was born in 1983 in Pattani province. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus and a Master’s Degree in Visual Arts (Thai Arts) from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University. He is currently an art teacher at the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus.
Recently, Jehabdulloh runs an Artspace in his hometown, Pattani, named Pattani Artspace. His Artspace is gaining reputations and becoming one of the famous Artspace in Thailand.
The artworks of Jehabdulloh are inspired by the livelihood of local Malay Pattani in the Deep South of Thailand. For instance, his work on “the image of local Malay Pattani” is inspired by the pattern designs of Koleh boat, as well as the work on “the beauty in the dark at Pattani” that depicts the concept of faith in Islam.
The images presented in his works normally come from the objects that Muslim people used in diary life, such as the hijab and Batu nisan, through the creative process of mixed materials painting with hand-made paper techniques. Currently, he is interested in the unrest, violence and resulting paranoia in Syria and Palestine and reflected it in his art series named “Budu Bomb” and “Born in the war”.
Jehabdulloh won many awards in recent years, including 1sh Prize in Contemporary Arts at the 30th Bua Luang Exhibition of Paintings; 2nd Prize Silver Medal Award in Painting at the 56th National Exhibition of Art, Bangkok; Special Prize at the 22nd Toshiba “Bring Good Things to Life” Art Exhibition, Bangkok; 2nd Prize at the 21st Toshiba “Bring Good Things to Life” Art Exhibition, Bangkok; Platinum Award at the 2nd UOB Painting of The Year Competition; 1st Prize Krung Thai Bank Award at the 57th National Exhibition of Art, Bangkok; 2nd Prize Krung Thai Bank Award at the 55th National Exhibition of Art, Bangkok; Outstanding Award at 2nd Asia Plus Art Exhibition; 2nd Prize and 3th Prize Bua Luang Silver Medal, Contemporary Paint Category , 34th , 33th , 32th Bua Luang Exhibition of Paintings, Bangkok.
