Power of Attorney / Certify Signature for Non-Thai National Applicants

The Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm does not have the authority to certify the signatures of individuals who are not Thai nationals. Therefore, if you are not a Thai national and need your signature certified, the following steps are required:

 

Process in Sweden

1. Signature Certification by a Notary Public

First, bring your documents (such as a power of attorney, letter of consent, copy of your passport, or other document copies without an original signature) to a Notary Public (refer to the law firm lists on hitta.se) to have your signature signed and witnessed. If the original document is in the local language (Swedish or Latvian), it must first be translated into English. You can check the list of translation agencies certified by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (UD) at Kammarkollegist. 

2. Legalization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

Take both the original document and the English translation must then be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden (Utrikesdepartementet) or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia (for Thai nationals in Latvia). Both the original document and the translation must be legalized.

3. Legalization at the Royal Thai Embassy: After legalization by the above authorities, the documents can be brought the documents to the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm for further legalization. *Please read the details below regarding the legalization at the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm and prepare the required documents before visiting us.

 

Legalization Process at the Royal Thai Embassy

Options for Legalizing Your Documents:

Option 1: Submission at the Embassy (Appointment Required)

– Legalizations are processed while you wait, with a maximum of 8 documents per visit.

– For more than 8 documents, the additional ones will be processed within a few working days and can be collected later.

 

Option 2: Submission by Post (Registered Postage Label Required)

– Processing time for postal submissions is approximately one week, excluding postage time.

– How to buy a Registered Postage Label from PostNord:

1. Purchase a registered postage label (REKOMENDERAD BREV, INTERNETBETALD) via PostNord.

2. Click on “Köp frakt online“, select “REK” and choose “250g.“

3. Fill in the sender and recipient addresses for the return envelope as followings,

Sender’s Address:

Please provide your email address, as the label and receipt will be sent to the email address you provide.

Recipient’s Address:

[Write your address in Sweden or Latvia, telephone number and email address]

*The person at the recipient’s address must have a valid ID card to pick up the registered return envelope.

4. Print the self-addressed return label, affix it to the envelope, and send it along with your documents.

 

Required Document:

1. Application form (click to download) Please print and fill in all details.

2. Originals of the documents AND their English translations have the stamps by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sweden (Utrikesdepartementet) or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Latvia (for Thai nationals in Latvia).

3. A copy of the documents listed in number 2. Please make a copy of every page of the documents.

4. A copy of the passport or ID-Card for the applicant.

5. A returned envelope with the attached postage label (If you send your documents for legalization by post).

 

Legalization Fee:

180 SEK per stamp(Effective from 5 November 2024). Payment is accepted via Swish only.

– For postal submissions, please include your phone number and email address in the application form. We will contact you to arrange payment.

– For those residing outside Sweden or sending documents from Latvia, please include 180 SEK per stamp in cash with your documents in the envelope. Ensure you send us your documents for review before mailing them.

 

Process in Thailand

4. Translation into Thai

Take the documents certified by the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm to a translation agency in Thailand for translation into Thai.

5. Legalization of Translated Documents

Submit the translated Thai documents to the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand for certification. You can book an appointment at https://qlegal.consular.go.th. For more information, contact the Call Center at +66 2-572-8442.

6. Your Documents Are Ready to Submit

Bring all legalized documents to the office where you intend to submit them in Thailand.
