The Royal Thai Embassy and Ragunda Municipality co-organised “Thai Pavilion Fun Run 2022”.

On 16 July 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy Stockholm, and Ragunda Municipality (Kommun) co-organised the ‘Thai Pavilion Fun Run 2022’ to commemorate the 125th anniversary of King Chulalongkorn’s royal visit to Sweden at the Thai Pavilion (www.thaipaviljongen.se). H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden and Mr. Håkan Lindström, Deputy Chairman of the Ragunda Municipal Board gave opening remarks highlighting the strong relationship between the two countries and peoples. Around 300 Thais and Swedes joined in the event.

The event started off by the fun run/walk through the historic Kung Chulalongkorns Vag (King Chulalongkorn’s Road) where King Chulalongkorn travelled 125 years ago. The fun run/walk was followed by traditional Thai dances performed by representatives of Thai communities in Sundsvall, Västerås, and Östersund. Everyone also joined in honoring King Chulalongkorn by placing handmade pink paper roses to form a heart-shape flower wreath to pay respect to King Chulalongkorn. At the venue, mini Thai market (loppis), and mini concert by Thai communities could also be enjoyed.

The Royal Thai Embassy would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all involved in the event, especially the Ragunda Kommun, Khun Zack and his team of Paviljongterrassen Restuarant (https://www.facebook.com/PaviljongSweden), volunteers from near and far, cultural troupes, staff, and many more that we cannot possibly mention all their names. All incomes (after deduction of related costs) from Fun Run registration fee and selling of the commemorative t-shirts will be donated to the Happy Child Foundation (www.happychild.se) which was founded by kind-heart Swedes who lost their loved ones in the Tsunami tragedy in Thailand in 2004. Thank you everyone!
