Songkran Festival event organized by the Vithithai Kulturforening at Traflen

On 18 April 2026, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys assigned Minister Counsellor Pittara Navarat to attend the Songkran Festival event organized by the Vithithai Kulturforening at Traflen, Olof Palmes väg 1B, 611 37 Nyköping. The event aimed to preserve, continue, and promote Thai traditions and cultural heritage. Also in attendance were Ms. Nilobon Kobkuea, Second Secretary, and Ms. Tippawan Thidtan, Consular Officer.

Activities at the event included religious ceremonies, listening to Dhamma teachings, offering lunch to monks, merit-making through almsgiving, the ritual bathing of Buddha images and monks, sand pagoda building, an exhibition on the continuation of the royal Thai traditional costume heritage.

The event provided both Thai nationals and foreigners with an opportunity to learn about and experience Thai arts and culture. It also served as an occasion for embassy officials and staff to meet members of the Thai community residing in Nyköping, Oxelösund, and nearby municipalities, as well as to provide consular advice.
