Thai Festival in Luleå 2023

          On 12 August 2023, H.E. Mrs. Arunrung Phothong Humphreys, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Sweden, together with staff of the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, participated in the Thai Festival 2023 held at Luleå Stadsparken, organized by the Thailändska Föreningen i Norrbotten.

          The event featured a variety of cultural performances, including Thai dances, Thai music, handicraft, as well as Thai food and products.

          On this visit, Ambassador Arunrung had also an opportunity to meet Mrs.Carina Sameli, Mayor of Luleå, and Mr. Daniel Smirat, Chair of the Municipal Assembly of Luleå at Stadshuset. Ambassador Arunrung was briefed about key strengths and industrial development in Luleå, particularly in the area of steel and critical rare earth, followed by productive exchanges of views on strategic industrial development plan in Lulea which is very promising. At present, about 5,000 job positions are being offered and to be fulfilled by 2030.

          The embassy appreciates the solidarity and cooperation of the various groups of Thai communities that have contributed to the great success of this year’s Thai Festival in Luleå. This success reflects the strength of the Thai community in Sweden.
