Young Thai artist group “Moradokmai” visited and did the performance in Sweden.

During 23 August – 1 September 2022, a group of young and talented Thai artists called ‘Moradokmai’ (literally means ‘new heritage’) under the guidance of Mr. Chang Janaprakal Chandruang, one of Thai National Artists, visited and had their performance for the first time in Sweden. The Royal Thai Embassy has found them a home of Mrs. Ewa Romare where the group stayed for over 10 days without charge and gained valuable experiences living and learning from Grandma Ewa who had a long career as an art teacher and has also operated an art and cultural center.

The group also got to perform on several occasions such as at the Amazing Thailand New Chapters Road Show to Nordic & Baltic 2022 organized by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Summer Festival of Wat Santinivas Haninge, an Elderly Home in Djursholm, and an afternoon of Thai music for the International Women’s Club Stockholm at the Thai ambassador’s residence, as well as a street performance on Drottninggatan, right in Stockholm’s CBD, etc.

Moradokmai is a theatre community with 60 youth who live and learn various fields of traditional Thai/international arts together at their home school in Klong Hok, Pathumtani province in Thailand. This trip to Sweden is part of the group’s two-month trip in Europe for eight young representatives to gain performing experiences abroad and also to raise some funds for students at the home school in pursuing their college studies. After Sweden, they have travelled to Denmark, and will travel on to Norway, Estonia, Czech, Austria, and Hungary. They will also have a short transit in Sweden on the way to and back from Estonia.
