Ambassador and diplomatic staff attended the Songkran Festival at Wat Siamminmangkalaram Sweden, Norrköping.

           On 16 April 2022, Ambassador Kanchana Patarachoke and diplomatic staff of the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm attended the Songkran Festival at Wat Siamminmangkalaram Sweden in Norrköping. The Embassy team met with the Thai communities nearby Norrköping who come to the temple to make merits and celebrate Thai New Year’s Day or Songkran Festival. We were happy to answer consular questions relating to passport making, birth certificate, travel restrictions, etc.

          The temple was set up since 2008 but has relocated to the current location in 2020 with the active leadership of Phrakhru Phawanaworasith or Luangta Nhoi and the support of the Thai communities and their Swedish families.

          The temple offers meditation training and also provides Bali and Swedish texts to enable everyone to join in the chanting. Today there are over 30 Thai temples and meditation centers in Sweden as a result of the relentless efforts of the Thai communities and their Swedish families. The temples and centers provide spiritual refuges for everyone regardless of their nationalities or beliefs. Anumodhana! May everyone be blessed by these good deeds!
