On 31 January 2024, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys chaired the 32nd Meeting of the ASEAN Committee in Stockholm (ACS) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm. The committee comprises ambassadors from ASEAN member countries with embassies in Stockholm, including Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The ambassadors of each country take turns chairing the committee for six months. Thailand is the Chair of ACS from January to June 2024.
During the meeting, the ASEAN Ambassadors exchanged views on ways and means to promote cooperation between ASEAN and Sweden, including plans for various activities from February to May 2024, which were jointly considered to build closer relations between ASEAN and Sweden. The planned activities include meetings with high-ranking officers and executives in both the public and private sectors of Sweden, a study trip to Uppsala, and organising the ASEAN Food and Trade Fair. In addition, the meeting also discussed plans for organising the ASEAN Family Day, which will be an event to familiarise and network between ASEAN Embassies in Sweden.
