The ambassador met the Deputy Speaker of the Latvian Parliament and Member of the Presidium of Saeima.

          On 24 January 2024, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys met with Ms. Antoņina Ņenaševa, Deputy Speaker of the Latvian Parliament and Member of the Presidium of Saeima, at the Latvian Parliament. The meeting aimed to enhance bilateral relations between Thailand and Latvia, as well as Thailand’s relation with the EU, during the Ambassador’s official visit to Latvia to present the Letters of Credence to the President of Latvia.

          Both sides discussed and exchanged views on ways and means to promote bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Latvia to be closer and produce more tangible results, particularly economic cooperation in areas where Latvia has expertise, such as digital ICT, the forest industry, and the medical and pharmaceutical industry. Both parties also agreed to continue cooperation in education, science, and technology through collaboration between the educational institutions of the two countries. In addition, the Thai side also sought Latvian support in negotiating the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). At the same time, the Deputy Speaker of Saeima expressed support and extended appreciation to Thailand for continuously providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
