The meeting with Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI)

On 23 January 2024, Ambassador Arunrung Phothong Humphreys met with Ms Katrīna Zariņa, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Member of the Board, Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), at the LCCI office, to discuss ways to promote economic cooperation, trade and investment between Thailand and Latvia, on the occasion of the official visit to Latvia to present the Letters of Credence to the President of Latvia.

Both sides recognised the vast opportunities and potential for fostering stronger connections in trade and investment between Thailand and Latvia. A collaborative effort between LCCI, the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm, and Thai economic agencies was identified as a key strategy to move the economic cooperation forward. The plan involves organising business seminars and facilitating private sector visits between the two countries to enhance awareness and establish robust business networks. In addition, both sides emphasised the importance of the negotiation of the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which will also contribute to economic relations between Thailand-EU and Thailand-Latvia once concluded.
